Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
