Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
